We're thrilled to share that we officially began post-production for DRESDEN 1957 on January 5, 2026. This was only possible because of the generosity of our supporters. We currently have 90% of our crowdfunding goal. We feel confident we will hit the target of $60,000 and so we decided to start work now - and we couldn't be happier about that!

With over 100 hours of footage, half of which is interviews, we have a lot of material. We needed a structured process for reviewing and organizing our footage, as we shape it into a film. With such a rich story, it would be easy to bog down early by trying to make too many decisions too soon. Instead, our objective is to move the project forward in series of small steps. Each step allows us to become familiar with our footage, as we gradually shape it. By being very methodical in the early going, we set ourselves up for the important creative decisions later, when we have the film fully roughed out. In the video below I try to explain the first parts of this process.

Senior editor Joseph Crawford last year, during work on our pitch trailer - the first taste of the film to come.

We will continue sharing updates on our progress and our approach to making this film. This is especially important for our crowdfunding supporters: we want you to see how your gift is being used. I can't say enough how grateful I am, not just to be able to do this work in the first place, but to be able to do it with you. We're not just telling this story, we're working - together - to change an unspoken Canadian attitude that seems to say "we're not important, our stories don't matter." In fact, our stories DO matter, just as much as Canada matters. And forgetting our stories can have a terrible cost, as DRESDEN 1957 shows us. So thank you for joining us on this journey.

If you'd like to join our crowdfunding campaign, you can make a secure contribution via our PayPal page. Alternatively, message us if you'd prefer to contribute by cheque or eTransfer. Together, we will tell this story at last.
